## Why does ISP targeting matter more in France?

ISP targeting matters in France because each operator runs home and mobile networks, sometimes under separate ASNs. Freebox home lines use AS12322 (Free SAS, Proxad), while Free Mobile uses AS51207. The ASN tells you which access type you got. PontProxy, a no-KYC UK & Europe residential and 4G/5G proxy provider, includes ISP and ASN targeting in every plan.

Most French homes are now on fibre. Arcep counted 27.7 million fibre subscriptions at the end of March 2026, or 84% of internet subscriptions. A French residential IP is therefore most often a fibre line.

## Which French networks do the IPs come from?

Mobile customer counts are as reported by each operator at 30 June 2026. Each operator uses its own definition, so compare them with care.

| ASN | Holder | Network type | Mobile customers (Q2 2026) | 4G/5G page |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AS3215 | Orange S.A. | Fixed + mobile | 22.653 million lines (excl. MVNO lines) | [Orange](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/orange/) |
| AS15557 | SFR SA | Fixed + mobile | 19.09 million customers | [SFR](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/sfr/) |
| AS5410 | Bouygues Telecom SA | Fixed + mobile | 18.8 million plan customers (excl. MtoM) | [Bouygues Telecom](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/bouygues-telecom/) |
| AS12322 | Free SAS (Proxad) | Fixed (Freebox) | — | — |
| AS51207 | Free Mobile SAS | Mobile | 15.8 million subscribers | [Free Mobile](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/free-mobile/) |

ASN holders checked in RIPEstat on 5 October 2026. Test any exit IP with our [ASN lookup guide](https://pontproxy.com/guides/check-proxy-asn/).

## Will the SFR sale change French residential IPs?

Not yet. On 6 June 2026, Bouygues Telecom, Free and Orange signed a memorandum of understanding with Altice France to buy and split SFR. The price is about 20.35 billion euros.

The deal still needs competition approval, and closing could come in the second half of 2027. Until then, SFR runs its own network under AS15557, and France keeps four operators. If the deal closes, SFR customers and address ranges may move to the three buyers over time. Check exit IPs by ASN rather than by brand name.

## How much does a 50 GB French crawl cost?

Cost of 50 GB of residential traffic, as of October 2026, per each provider's own pricing page. $0.41/GB at 50 GB is 25% below the lowest price we found among the main UK and EU proxy providers (Databay, $0.55/GB (Residential Flex pack), checked 2026-10-05). Proxyway's 2026 market research puts the average 50 GB price at $3.00/GB.

| Provider | Price per GB at 50 GB | Cost of 50 GB | Plan type |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| PontProxy | $0.41/GB | $20.50 | One-off, never expires |
| ProxyWing | $2.00/GB | $100 | Standard pay as you go |
| Webshare | $2.45/GB | $122.50 | Monthly plan |
| Decodo | $3.00/GB | $150 | Monthly plan |

## What do independent French proxy benchmarks report?

Two independent sites publish French proxy tests, and neither has tested PontProxy yet.

- **AIMultiple** runs a French-language benchmark, updated on 29 September 2026. It counted 451,092 French residential IPs for Bright Data and cites CNIL guidance.
- **Proxyway** reports more than 5 million French IPs for Oxylabs, more than 3 million for SOAX and more than 690,000 for Bright Data.

Two rules matter for no-KYC buyers. Bright Data's Residential network requires company KYC for zones created after July 7, 2026. SOAX requires Sumsub identity verification when you pay with crypto.

## Which French websites can you check with a French IP?

A French IP shows the prices, listings and ads that a visitor in France sees:

- **Price monitoring** on Amazon.fr, Cdiscount, Fnac and Rakuten France;
- **Market research** on public Leboncoin and Vinted listings;
- **SERP tracking** on google.fr, by city;
- **Ad verification** on French news publishers.

Listings can contain personal data, so collect only what you need. See [price monitoring](https://pontproxy.com/use-cases/price-monitoring/) and [SERP tracking](https://pontproxy.com/use-cases/serp-tracking/).

## Residential or 4G/5G mobile IPs in France?

Residential IPs suit crawling and SERP work billed per GB. Mobile IPs suit app tests and mobile ad checks on a named operator. Arcep counted 84.7 million SIM cards in service, excluding M2M, on 30 June 2026.

ANFR counted 32,988 Orange 4G sites in metropolitan France on 1 September 2026, the most of the four networks. A dedicated French port costs $59.25 for 30 days. Pick your operator on [French 4G/5G proxies](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/), or go straight to [SFR](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/sfr/) or [Free Mobile](https://pontproxy.com/mobile-proxies/france/free-mobile/).

## Is scraping French websites legal?

Using a proxy is legal in France; the rules apply to what you collect and how. Personal data falls under the GDPR and the Loi Informatique et Libertés (Law No. 78-17), supervised by the CNIL. Article 323-1 of the Code pénal penalises unauthorised access to a computer system.

PontProxy blocks online banking, government portals, payment processors and outgoing email (SMTP ports 25, 465 and 587). Every account follows our [Acceptable Use Policy](https://pontproxy.com/acceptable-use/). For general guidance, read [are proxies legal in the UK and EU?](https://pontproxy.com/guides/are-proxies-legal-uk-eu/).

## How do I connect to a French residential IP?

Use host `gw.pontproxy.com` with port `7777` (HTTP/HTTPS) or `7778` (SOCKS5). For a Lyon IP held for 20 minutes, the username is `USERNAME-country-fr-city-lyon-session-x7y8z9-ttl-20`. The [quickstart guide](https://pontproxy.com/guides/quickstart/) has full examples.

## French residential proxies: FAQ

### Which is the "meilleur proxy résidentiel France"?

"Meilleur proxy résidentiel France" is the French search for the best residential proxy in France. PontProxy answers it with IPs on Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free, ISP and city targeting at no surcharge, and 50 GB for $20.50. No KYC — no ID, no selfie, no documents. Payment is in crypto only.

### How much do French residential proxies cost?

French residential proxies at PontProxy cost from $0.36/GB. A 1 GB test costs $0.95 (paid from a $25 minimum top-up; the rest stays on your balance — never expires, non-refundable), 10 GB costs $5.90 and 50 GB costs $20.50. The price is the same across Europe and includes city and ISP targeting. Traffic never expires, so you can split one plan across several projects.

### Can I get only Orange or only Free IPs?

Yes. ISP and ASN targeting is included in every plan. Orange uses AS3215, SFR AS15557 and Bouygues Telecom AS5410. Free uses AS12322 for Freebox home lines and AS51207 for Free Mobile, so choose the ASN that matches the access type you need. Check each exit IP with ipinfo or RIPEstat.

### Will the SFR sale affect my proxies?

Not for now. Bouygues Telecom, Free and Orange signed a memorandum of understanding on 6 June 2026 to buy and split SFR for about 20.35 billion euros. The deal needs competition approval and could close in the second half of 2027. Until then SFR runs its own network, and SFR IPs stay under AS15557.

### Can I target Marseille separately from Paris?

Yes. City targeting covers Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, Montpellier, Strasbourg, Bordeaux and Lille. Add the city to your username after the country code. City data comes from IP geolocation databases, which can differ near city borders. Check a sample IP before a large run.

### Do I need an ID to buy French proxies?

No. PontProxy asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents, and an email is optional. You log in with an account number. The CNIL enforces GDPR data minimisation in France, and we apply the same principle to our own customers: we keep no identity documents.

### Which coins does PontProxy accept?

PontProxy accepts Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC). Payment is crypto only, so we hold no card or bank details. USDT on TRC-20, Solana and Litecoin keep network fees low on small plans. Credentials appear as soon as the payment confirms.

### Are fixed or mobile French IPs better for google.fr tracking?

Fixed residential IPs are the usual choice for google.fr rank tracking, because they are billed per GB and rotate cheaply. Mobile IPs help when you need the results a phone user sees on a named operator. Regional results differ, so set the city, for example Lyon or Toulouse, to match your audience.
