Independent UK tests show that connection success and success on hard UK sites are very different numbers. Two publishers run the UK tests most often cited.
The lesson is simple: a "99%" figure measures the proxy connection, not your scraper on Argos. PontProxy is not in either test yet. We publish no success-rate figures of our own until we can show the method and sample size.

UK residential IPs come mainly from four fixed-line networks: BT, Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk. Each announces its customer addresses from its own autonomous system (ASN), so an ASN lookup tells you which ISP an exit IP belongs to.
BT, Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk are the largest home broadband providers. Ofcom reports full fibre at 78% of UK premises (23.7 million) and gigabit coverage at 87%, based on July 2025 data.
IPinfo counts about 107.6 million IPv4 addresses across 3,809 ASNs in the UK. The four big ISPs hold a large share of them. With PontProxy you can pin an exit IP to one ISP or ASN at no extra cost. Our ASN lookup guide shows how to verify any exit IP with RIPEstat or IPinfo.
| ISP | ASN | Registered holder | IPv4 addresses (IPinfo) |
|---|---|---|---|
| BT | AS2856 | British Telecommunications | 13,938,688 |
| Virgin Media | AS5089 | Virgin Media | 8,490,752 |
| Sky | AS5607 | Sky UK | 6,614,016 |
| TalkTalk | AS13285 | TalkTalk | 3,954,944 |
IPv4 counts from IPinfo, checked 5 October 2026; other databases give different totals. AS2856 also originates EE mobile ranges such as 31.94.0.0/16 (RIPEstat).
Yes. PontProxy includes UK city targeting in every plan, so you can ask for a London, Manchester or Birmingham exit IP at no extra cost. Add the city to your username, in lower case:
USERNAME-country-gb-city-london — Greater London.USERNAME-country-gb-city-manchester — Manchester.USERNAME-country-gb-city-birmingham — Birmingham.IP geolocation is approximate. A database may label a commuter-belt IP with a nearby town rather than the city itself. For London details, see our London residential proxies page.
PontProxy gives every UK residential plan SOCKS5 and sticky sessions. Connect to gw.pontproxy.com on port 7778 for SOCKS5, or port 7777 for HTTP and HTTPS.
To keep the same UK IP, add a session ID and a TTL in minutes to the username. The gateway then holds that exit IP up to 60 minutes. Remove the session part to get a new UK IP on every request.
Sticky sessions suit logins, checkouts and paginated crawls. Rotating sessions suit large SERP or price crawls. More samples are in the quickstart guide.

UK residential proxies let you see British websites as UK households see them. Internet sales were 27.3% of UK retail in August 2026, according to the ONS, so UK prices and stock change online every day.
Typical legitimate jobs:
PontProxy blocks online banking, government portals, payment processors and outgoing email (SMTP ports 25, 465 and 587). Every account follows our Acceptable Use Policy.
Use residential proxies for most scraping, SERP and price work, because you pay per GB from $0.36/GB. Use mobile proxies when you need an IP from a UK carrier: EE, Vodafone, O2 or Three.
A dedicated UK 4G/5G port starts at $4.50/day with unlimited traffic. Compare both on our UK 4G/5G mobile proxies page.
PontProxy is a strong choice if you want UK IPs without KYC: $0.59/GB at 10 GB, with London, Manchester and Birmingham targeting included. Its UK ISPs are BT, Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk, and you pay in crypto. Proxyway reports large UK pools for Oxylabs and Decodo, but their entry prices are higher per GB as of October 2026.
As of October 2026, PontProxy sells UK residential traffic from $0.36/GB at the largest tier and $0.59/GB at 10 GB. The 10 GB price is 26% below Geonode's $0.79/GB (monthly subscription), the lowest reference we found. Proxyway's 2026 average was $4.16/GB at 5 GB. City and ISP targeting cost nothing extra at PontProxy.
Yes. Every PontProxy UK plan supports SOCKS5 on port 7778 and HTTP or HTTPS on port 7777. Add a session ID and a TTL to your username to keep the same UK IP up to 60 minutes. Without a session ID you get a fresh UK IP on every request. Both modes work with city and ISP targeting.
Yes. PontProxy includes ISP and ASN targeting at no extra cost. The four main UK home-broadband networks are BT (AS2856), Virgin Media (AS5089), Sky (AS5607) and TalkTalk (AS13285). Narrow targeting means a smaller pool, so keep it for jobs that need one ISP. Verify any exit IP with our ASN lookup guide.
Yes. Add -city-london, -city-manchester or -city-birmingham after -country-gb in your username. City targeting is included in every plan. IP geolocation is approximate, so some databases may label an exit IP with a nearby town. The London page explains London targeting in detail.
No. PontProxy asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents, in line with the UK GDPR principle of data minimisation. You sign in with an account number and an email is optional. By contrast, Bright Data's Residential network requires company KYC for zones created after July 7, 2026, and IPRoyal runs KYC checks for all clients.
Using a proxy is legal in the UK; what matters is what you do through it. UK scraping of personal data falls under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018; unauthorised access falls under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. PontProxy blocks banking, government and payment targets and outgoing email. This is general information, not legal advice. Read are proxies legal in the UK and EU?
You can pay with Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC). Payment is crypto only, so we hold no card or bank details. USDT on TRC-20, Solana and Litecoin keep network fees low on small plans. Credentials appear as soon as the payment confirms, and unused residential traffic never expires. Refund terms: unused residential or rotating-mobile traffic credited back to your balance within 7 days of purchase; a dedicated port that does not work as described credited back within 24 hours; balance itself is never refunded.
