What can you geo-test from UK and EU IPs?

You can test every part of a site or app that changes with the visitor's location:

  • Language and redirects: does a Belgian visitor get Dutch or French?
  • Currency and geo-pricing: GBP in the UK, EUR in the euro area, PLN in Poland, CHF in Switzerland.
  • Consent banners: does each country get the banner your consent platform should show?
  • Catalogues and content rights: what is available in each market?

Real residential IPs matter because geolocation databases often flag data-centre ranges as hosting. A test from a cloud server can follow a different code path from a real visitor.

Load the site from a fresh browser profile with an IP in each country, then record the banner each one gets. Consent platforms can show different banners by jurisdiction. The UK is outside the EU and applies the UK GDPR, while EU countries apply the GDPR plus national law.

Check whether the banner appears, its language, its buttons, and whether non-essential cookies load before consent. This is a technical check, not legal advice.

How do you set up geo-testing with PontProxy?

These steps run one automated check per country with a sticky IP. The username format is USERNAME-country-{cc}-city-{city}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}.

  1. Build a test matrix

List each market with its country code, browser locale and time zone, for example de, de-DE, Europe/Berlin.

  2. Buy residential traffic

Choose a plan on the pricing page and pay in crypto. Add a dedicated 4G/5G port for app tests.

  3. Use one sticky session per test

For example USERNAME-country-de-city-berlin-session-qa01-ttl-15, so the whole test uses one IP.

  4. Start from a clean profile

Match locale and time zone to the IP, and clear cookies so consent from an earlier country does not carry over.

  5. Capture and compare

Save a screenshot, the final URL, the currency and the cookies set before consent. Compare each market with its expected result.

How do you test mobile apps from UK and EU networks?

Route the test device or emulator through a dedicated 4G/5G port in the target country. The app then sees a real carrier IP, as a local user would.

In the UK, choose EE, Vodafone, O2 or Three. Germany covers Telekom, Vodafone, O2 and 1&1; France covers Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile. Each port has unlimited traffic with no daily cap, so long test runs do not use up a GB balance.

How do you geo-test responsibly?

Test your own sites and apps, or those of clients who asked you to. PontProxy supports QA work under its Acceptable Use Policy.

  1. Respect robots.txt on pages you do not own.
  2. Limit your rate. A geo-test needs a few page loads per country, not thousands.
  3. Use test accounts and test data, never real customers' personal data.
  4. Know the blocked targets: online banking, government portals, payment processors and outgoing email (SMTP ports 25, 465 and 587).

How much do geo-testing proxies cost?

As of October 2026: 1 GB costs $0.95 (paid from a $25 minimum top-up; the rest stays on your balance — never expires, non-refundable), enough for many small test runs. $0.59/GB at 10 GB is 26% below the lowest price we found among the main UK and EU proxy providers (Geonode, $0.79/GB (monthly subscription), checked 2026-10-05). Geo-testing proxies: frequently asked questions

What is a geo-testing proxy?

A geo-testing proxy lets you load a website or app as a visitor from another country. Requests leave through an IP in that country, so the site shows its local language, currency, prices and banners. PontProxy covers 50 European countries from $0.36/GB.

Why not use a VPN or a cloud server for geo-testing?

Geolocation databases often flag VPN and data-centre ranges as hosting, not as home users. A site may then follow a different path, such as a block or a default country. A residential IP from a home broadband line is closer to a real visitor, and a mobile port is closest for apps.

Yes. Load the site from a fresh browser profile with a PontProxy IP in each country, such as -country-fr or -country-de. Record whether the banner appears, its language and which cookies load before consent. Repeat with gb, because the UK applies the UK GDPR outside the EU.

How do I keep the same IP during a test?

Add a session and a ttl to the username, for example USERNAME-country-gb-session-qa01-ttl-15. Requests with that session string keep the same IP for up to 60 minutes. Use a new session string for each test, so runs stay separate. Leave out the session to get a new IP on every request.

Can I test city-level content?

Yes. Add -city- to the username, for example -city-manchester or -city-munich. PontProxy includes country, city and ISP/ASN targeting included at no extra cost. City targeting helps when a site shows local stores, delivery areas or regional offers. If a small city returns no IP, use the nearest large city.

Do I need KYC to buy geo-testing proxies?

No. PontProxy requires no KYC — no ID, no selfie, no documents. You log in with an account number, and email is optional. Payment is crypto only: Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC). Delivery is instant — credentials appear as soon as your top-up confirms and you buy a plan.

Can I test checkout and payment pages?

You can test your own checkout up to the payment step. PontProxy blocks online banking, government portals, payment processors and outgoing email (SMTP ports 25, 465 and 587), so the network cannot reach payment-processor pages. Test the payment step itself in your provider's sandbox, from your normal connection.
