Which cities can I target in Iceland?

You can target Iceland as a whole or one city at a time. The main locations are Reykjavík, Kópavogur, Hafnarfjörður, Reykjanesbær, Akureyri, Garðabær, Mosfellsbær, Selfoss, Akranes. Country and city targeting are included in every plan at no extra cost.

To pick a city, add it to your proxy username in lower case, without spaces: country-is selects Iceland, then -city- plus the city name narrows the exit IP to that city.

Which ISPs do Iceland residential IPs come from?

Residential IPs are addresses that home broadband providers assign to their subscribers. In Iceland the main fixed-line ISPs are Síminn, Sýn, Nova, Hringdu.

Síminn, Sýn, Nova and Hringdu sell home broadband over fibre networks such as Míla and Ljósleiðarinn. FTTH Council Europe measured Iceland's fibre penetration at 81.6% in September 2024.

You can pin an ISP or ASN with ISP targeting, included in every PontProxy plan.

What are Iceland residential proxies used for?

Icelandic IPs show local prices and stock on Elko, Heimkaup and Hagkaup and listings on Bland.is. They also let teams test Icelandic-language content and ads as users in Reykjavík see them.

Typical legitimate jobs with a Iceland IP:

  • checking local search results on google.is;
  • monitoring prices and stock on Bland.is, Elko, Heimkaup, Hagkaup;
  • verifying that ads and affiliate links display correctly to visitors in Iceland;
  • testing websites and apps from a real Iceland connection.

See our guides to price monitoring, SERP tracking and geo-testing.

Residential or mobile proxies in Iceland?

Residential IPs suit most scraping, SERP and price work and are billed per GB. Mobile IPs come from SIM cards on Síminn, Nova, Sýn and suit app testing and mobile ad checks.

Iceland has three mobile network operators: Síminn, Nova and Sýn. Sýn retired the Vodafone brand in June 2025 and now sells mobile services under its own name.

Using a proxy is legal in Iceland; what matters is what you do through it. Iceland applies the GDPR through the EEA Agreement and Act No. 90/2018, supervised by Persónuvernd.

PontProxy blocks online banking, government portals, payment processors and outgoing email (SMTP ports 25, 465 and 587). Every account is bound by our Acceptable Use Policy. Read more in are proxies legal in the UK and EU?.

How do I connect to a Iceland residential IP?

Use host gw.pontproxy.com on port 7777 for HTTP/HTTPS or 7778 for SOCKS5. Build the username like this: USERNAME-country-is-session-a1b2c3-ttl-30.

  • Drop the session part to get a new IP on every request.
  • Keep the same session value to hold one IP for up to the ttl in minutes.

Iceland residential proxies: FAQ

What happened to Vodafone in Iceland?

Vodafone Iceland was a brand licensed from Vodafone Group and owned by the Icelandic company Sýn. Sýn retired the Vodafone brand in June 2025. Its mobile network now trades as Sýn, alongside Síminn and Nova. Some IP databases still label address space as 'Vodafone Iceland', for example AS12969.

Does the GDPR apply in Iceland?

Yes. Iceland is not in the EU, but it is part of the European Economic Area. The GDPR applies through the EEA Agreement and is implemented by Act No. 90/2018. Persónuvernd is the data protection authority, and Fjarskiptastofa regulates electronic communications.

How much do Iceland residential proxies cost?

Iceland residential proxies cost from $0.36/GB at PontProxy. The 1 GB plan costs $0.95 (paid from a $25 minimum top-up; the rest stays on your balance — never expires, non-refundable) and 10 GB costs $5.90. The price is the same in every European country and includes city and ISP targeting. Unused traffic never expires, so you only pay for what you use.

Do I need to verify my identity to buy Iceland proxies?

No. PontProxy asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents. You sign in with an account number and an email is optional. This follows the GDPR principle of data minimisation: we only keep what we need to run the service. Use is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy.

Which cryptocurrencies can I use to pay?

You can pay in Bitcoin, USDT (TRC-20 or ERC-20), USDC, Ethereum, Litecoin or Solana. USDT on TRC-20, Solana and Litecoin keep network fees low for small plans. Credentials appear in your client area as soon as the payment confirms.

Can I keep the same Iceland IP for a whole session?

Yes. Add a session ID to your username and the gateway keeps the same Iceland exit IP up to 60 minutes. Without a session ID you get a new IP on every request, which suits large crawls. Both modes work over HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5.
